Connect Ohio Accepting Applications to Award 5 Communities Detailed Technology Assessment and Broadband Plan
Connect Ohio is accepting applications from Ohio communities interested in taking part in the Connected Community Engagement Program (Connected) to receive a comprehensive technology assessment and innovative project plan to enhance its technology standing in today’s digital economy. As many as five communities may be selected for the Connected program. The awards are part of Connect Ohio’s renewed funding from the state of Ohio to continue advancing broadband access, adoption, and use for all Ohioans.
Information gathered through the Connected program provides communities a unique analysis and view of the local broadband and technology ecosystem. Connected examines the access, adoption, and use of technology across the many interrelated sectors of a community, including, but not limited to, economic development, K-12 and higher education, talent and workforce development, public safety, local government, libraries, and tourism. The one-of-a-kind assessments and community Technology Action Plans provide strategic insight and support the development of an actionable project plan to address the most pressing technology challenges facing communities today.
“In order to compete in the digital economy, access, adoption, and use of broadband are critical elements of development for communities,” said Stu Johnson, Interim Executive Director for Connect Ohio and Vice President for Connected Nation, Inc. “The Connected program is one way we can directly assist Ohio communities that may not know where to start, but want to advance their economic development and residential service offerings.”
Applications will be accepted through November 15, 2016, and can be submitted online at http://connectmycommunity.org/connected-application/. Connect Ohio will be selecting up to 5 communities to participate; awardees will be notified by the end of November 2016.
