Community Action Distributes Printers to Every Citizen Online Participants

By Lyndsey Kleven

Hocking, Athens, Perry, Community Action Partnership (HAPCAP) has distributed four wireless printers from Connect Ohio. The printers were donated by Lexmark and are valued at $100 each. Connect Ohio gave the printers to partner organizations of the Every Citizen Online (ECO) free basic computer training class.

Over the summer HAPCAP ran a youth employment program for eligible youth in Athens County. HAPCAP hired 120 youth for this program which worked at a variety of worksites throughout the summer. Some participants took part in learning experiences offered through HAPCAP, one of them being the ECO computer training classes. Printer winners were chosen from a random drawing of those completing the ECO training.

"I found out that two of my girls, Millie Price and Angel Cox, won the printers given away through the Connect Ohio class," said Brandy Ellinger, Job Coach for the 2013 Athens Summer Youth Employment Program at HAPCAP. "This is especially great for Angel, as part of her summer saving goal was to save for a computer and printer so she can return to college classes!"
