Morrow County Welcomes Comprehensive Technology Plan

Morrow County, Ohio now has an action plan to make way for greater technology use across the community and pave the way for a brighter economic future. The Technology Action Plan was unveiled Wednesday, October 30, in Mt. Gilead as part of Morrow County’s participation in the Connected Community Engagement Program through Connect Ohio. GE Foundation Provides Grant for Cincinnati Public Schools to Enhance Technology in the Classroom

In 2011, the GE Foundation donated a grant of $5.3 million to Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) as part of a three-year extension to implement the Common Core State Standards, goals each student must meet in order to ensure they are prepared for extended learning opportunities. 40 Cincinnati Public Schools participated in the partnership with GE to embark on yearlong capstone projects taken on by 4th through 8th grade students. Digital Works Program Brings Jobs to Zanesville

Connect Ohio revealed its newest initiative, Digital Workssm: Connecting People & Jobs, in Zanesville this June, and 21 participants have completed the program and been offered employment. Techie Club

One way that TECH CORPS promotes technology in education is through its Techie Club program. The goal of Techie Club is to provide students with lessons focusing on a variety of computer topics, promote twenty-first century skills, and provide students with an awareness of technology and STEM-related careers. Techie Club is for 3rd to 6th graders and is being implemented in 15 locations across Ohio this year. The club is run differently at each school and can be adapted to meet the school’s environment and needs.
