Every Citizen Online All-Star Facility Award Presented to Rhodes State College

Connect Ohio has named Rhodes State College an Every Citizen Online (ECO) All-Star Facility. The ECO All-Star Facility award was presented to April Sybert, Rhodes State College ECO coordinator, by executive director Stu Johnson during Connect Ohio’s quarterly Technology Association Meeting session held in Columbus July 20, 2012. Senior Series: Part 4, More Seniors Online, Increasing Internet Safety Concerns

A new Pew Internet study found that 53% of American adults 65 or older are now using the Internet or e-mail, making senior citizens the fastest growing group of Internet users. Although broadband usage for seniors is on the rise, not surprisingly, those over 75 are less likely to use the Internet, with usage dropping to 34%. The study also found that the majority of seniors who are online (86%) are using the Internet to send e-mails with almost half (48%) doing so daily.
