  Ohio’s Broadband Landscape 2013     In Connect Ohio’s efforts to increase Internet access, adoption, and use, our research and efforts have been developed into a report on Ohio’s Broadband Landscape for 2013. Approximately 6.3 million adults in Ohio subscribe to home broadband service. This mean 71% of Ohio adults have a home broadband subscription, an increase of five percentage points from 2011 and above the national average of 66%. Connect Ohio’s broadband mapping has validated coverage for 102 broadband providers, indicating that 97.6% of Ohio households have access to at least 3 Mbps download speed. ·  ...

Broadband Adoption among Ohio Households Increased Significantly in 2012

For those using broadband and technology on a daily basis, it is remarkable to think that others are not, yet nearly one third of Ohioans have not adopted this technology. Connect Ohio has conducted a survey of residents from across the state to see if they access broadband, and if so, how they are using it. Crystal Broadband Project to Connect Village Residents in Monroe County

Earlier this week, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development announced more than $100 million in Community Connect grant funds were being awarded for 23 broadband projects throughout the country. The Community Connect program provides funding for broadband access to residents in remote areas and low-income communities. Crystal Broadband Networks, Inc., a broadband provider based in Chicago, was awarded $570, 800 of the $100 million for a project in rural Stafford, Ohio.  Stafford is a village located in Monroe County with a population of less than 100 people, according to 2010 census information. ...
