CABI Concert to Benefit Computers for Students

CABI Fund Donates More than 35 Computers in 2013

Christmas came early for six students who were the lucky recipients of laptop computers in mid-December. Three computers were given to fifth graders at Meigs Intermediate School, Jocelyn Cunningham, Jenna Gilmore, and Kylee Robinson. The other three laptops were given to students at Wellston High School, Kayla Van Wie, Caitlin Foster, and Josh Campbell. It has been an incredibly active year for Connect Ohio, thanks to your support. 2013 was also a year of change as some Connect Ohio programs reached completion and are evolving into next phases. The two-year Connect Appalachia Broadband Initiate (CABI) is coming to a close with the 2013-year. Formed in late 2011, its mission was to pull Appalachia Ohio within state and national standards in broadband adoption. The Task Force feels it has been instrumental in reducing the number of unserved households in Appalachian Ohio, and preliminary research to be released in early 2014 will clearly demonstrate the initiative’s impact. South Elementary School Receives New Computers

Connect Ohio presented the children of South Elementary School of Cambridge City School District with 20 computers Tuesday, November 19, to update its computer lab. The computers were donated on behalf of the Connect Appalachia Broadband Initiative (CABI) Fund, a Connect Ohio initiative to provide computers and technology connectivity to low-income Appalachian Ohio areas in need.
