03/06/12 Upon the completion of the two-year project to get a tower installed in Knox Township in May of 2011, more than 300 households and businesses now have access to broadband Internet service. The project began in 2009 with Columbiana County officials and Omnicity, a fixed-wireless Internet service provider, collaborating for the approval of constructing a MARCS (Multi-Agency Radio Communication System) tower in the township. 02/10/12 Connect Ohio had the privilege of joining the Ohio Appalachian Task Force meeting hosted by the Corporation for Ohio Appalachia Development (COAD) Wednesday, February 8, at Stuart’s Opera House in Nelsonville. Executive Director Stu Johnson discussed the current state of broadband and technology adoption for Appalachian Ohio. Johnson opened the presentation by asking the nearly twenty attendees if they had broadband service at home. 01/20/12 In December, the Governor’s Office of Appalachia in conjunction with Connect Ohio announced the launch of a special initiative to address the broadband divide facing rural Appalachia.
